How to enable Remote Desktop (RDP) on Server 2012 R2

This guide will take you step by step through, how to enable Remote Desktop on Server 2012 R2, but do note that this guide will only show how to enable it for all network connections on the server and not for any specific users.

Step 1. First, choose "Local Server"on the left side of the "Server Manager", as shown below.

Step 2. Move the dot down to "Allow remote connections to this computer", as shown below.

Step 3. When you have tried to move the dot, you will get an information about a firewall exception that will be enabled. Hit OK to this, if you just want to work (like in a closed or virtual environment).

NOTE!: The firewall exception will not allow remote desktop connections to the server, so either make that yourself or disable the firewall (NOT recommended, if the server is supposed to go live).

Step 4. After that, remove the tick at "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (recommended)" and hit "OK". Now you are able to Remote access your server..
