How to set Static IP on 2008 R2

This guide will take you through the few steps it takes for you to set a static IP or remove one, for that matter. It is adviced to set one as one of the first things, when setting up a new server.

Step 1. Right click on the network icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, as shown below with the red sqaure.

Step 2. Choose "Open Network and Sharing Center", as shown with the red square below.

Step 3. Click on "Local Area Connection" in the right side of the screen, as shown below with the red square

Step 4. Next, choose "Properties", as shown below with a red square.

Step 5. Then mark "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and hit "Properties", as shown below with the red and orange squares.

Step 6. Set the dot in "Use the following IP address", enter the IP, Subnet and default gateway + DNS servers and click OK, as shown below with red, orange, yellow and green squares.
