How to install DHCP role in 2008 R2

This guide will take you through step by step how to install DHCP, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, on Microsoft Server 2008 R2.

Step 1. First, choose "Add roles", as show below.

Step 2. Then hit "Next".

Step 3. Now, set a tick at "DHCP Server" and "DNS Server", as shown below and hit "Next".

Step 4. hit "Next" unless you want to read the info first.

Step 5. And hit "Next" again, unless you want to read some more info.

Step 6. Now you have to select which network connect you want to set up the DHCP service for, as shown below and then hit "Next", when chosen.

Step 7. Then you have to choose a "Parent domain" and which DNS servere the DHCP service should provide to the clients. Hit "Next" you have filled that out, as shown below.

Step 8. Unless you want to use WINS, then you choose not to use it and hit "Next", as shown below.

Step 9. Here you have the possibility to set up a DHCP scope, but I will not do that in this guide, so hit "Next" here.

Step 10. As I will not use IPv6 at all, I choose to disable DHCPv6, as shown below.

Step 11. Before starting the install, check the info for your DHCP server and make it is right, when done, hit "Install", as shown below.

Step 12. Finally, you should get a "Installation succeeded", when it is done and you can hit "Close", as shown below. Thats it!
